As a young girl, I was introduced to the world of fiber arts by my grandmother. I lost interest in it for a long while, but picked it back up in 2006 when I started making hats for friends as well as baby shower gift sets. I enjoyed doing this for a while and even opened an Etsy store after much pushing and encouragement from friends and family. I created a wide variety of items back then including newborn things, blankets, children's hats, sweaters, booties, stuffed animals, pillows, etc. My heart just wasn't fully in it though (not very focused and a little scattered as far as inspiration went) and I wanted more... I truly love making clothing and accessories specifically designed for a brand new, tiny human. There is something so amazing about this fleeting time in life and I love getting to be a part of that.

My ever-adoring husband, nicknamed me Mama Knits, after our first baby was born in 2009, and the name stuck. I decided to use it as my business name, because it held so much personal meaning for me and for our family. As my little business grew so did our crew... five children and many years later, we are very proud of this small business and how it has grown. My husband is now a full-time partner/co-owner in the business, and we love getting to work with one another every day.
Creativity is a strong trait in my family. My mother is a carpenter and a painter, so I grew up watching her create; always being amazed at the concepts she came up with. I also knew that crocheting/knitting was a hobby of many of my relatives on both sides of my family, but I didn't know just how deep the fiber arts love went. Just in the last few years, I found out that my ancestors were weavers/knitters/clothing-makers. I thought that it was so cool that it was "in my blood" to play with wool, and it just adds more to our story. Such a special line of work and it goes down the line of my family tree!

Mama Knits isn't just about me, but about the history of our family, about the love we share, and about the passion that lights our life on fire. We are so blessed to call this our life & wouldn't have it any other way.
